The Low Down on the PowWeb Affiliate Program

Want to earn money in one of the easiest ways possible? Join the PowWeb Affiliate Program. That’s right. Join the other happy PowWeb Affiliates living off money we’re giving them!

Here’s how to get started:

1. Sign up at http://partners.powweb.com (signing up is free and only requires you to fill out some basic information.
2. Click on Banners and Links to get your affiliate link.

3. Promote your unique url! As the image says, we’ll pay you $77.77 per customer who signs up for hosting account using your unique url.

Step three is the hardest step so here are some ideas on how to promote your affiliate link and start bringing in the cash you need to quit your boring day job.

Put the link on your site

Putting the link on your site is probably the most popular and easiest way to advertise your link. Why not use your existing traffic to bring in some extra cash?

To generate a banner or a text link with your affiliate link embedded, log into the Affiliate Console and click on Banners & Links.

The banner you decide to use doesn’t have to be obtrusive or big and flashy. You know your site visitors the best so use what you think will work best for you. Don’t be afraid to use plain old text links. Text types of links have been known to be very effective in content-heavy sites and blogs.

Blog about PowWeb

Blogging about PowWeb is a way for you to build up trust with your site visitors. Explaining in your own words the experience you’ve had with PowWeb creates trust amongst your readers. Ultimately, more trust means that more of your site visitors will look to you for authoritative information; information on topics such as where to host their site. Once that happens, you’re in like Flint. If you tell them PowWeb is the best and that in order to get the best deal possible, they need to click this link, they’ll believe you and you’ll get credit.

In addition, blogging is a great way to build up some content for search engines. You never know. Your entry about PowWeb might make the first page of Google for a popular search word or keyphrase. If that that happens, well, you’ll be set.

Reuse your affiliate profits

You’re going to be making $77.77 per referral. That’s a good chunk of change for virtually no effort. You should use some of what you make to reinvest in advertising your affiliate link.

One idea would be to get your friends and family to sign up for hosting using your link. One nice guilt trip on Mom and you’ll have your first $77.77 in your pocket before you know it. Try using the cash to bid on keywords in Google Adwords or Yahoo’s Overture. Before you start bidding on the most competitive and expensive keywords (example: web hosting), try bidding on key terms related to your site. The idea here is to try and drive traffic to your site while making it easy for visitors to find your recommended host. If you can find some affordable words to bid on that will drive traffic to your affiliate link, do it. More expensive does not always mean better

Cloak your link

There are several reasons why cloaking your link is beneficial; for instance, to prevent link hijacking. Link hijacking can occur when malicious software on the web strips the affiliate id from your affiliate link and puts in its own. That’s bad. It means that they (the malicious party) get credit for a referral YOU made.

Cloaking your link also allows you to make it shorter and easier to remember. Let’s say you are on a bus chatting with another passenger. Let’s say that passenger’s name is John. If John tells you, “Man, I really need some good hosting. I just can’t seem to find any.” You can reply, “Well check out http://myawesomedomain.com/hosting. It’ll redirect you to the perfect host.” If you didn’t cloak your link, you’d need to remember to tell him to go to http://www.powweb.com/join/index.bml?AffID=565198. Which do you think is easier to remember?

Until I do a write up on how to cloak, try this.

Be creative

Our most successful affiliates have brought in hundreds of thousands of dollars a year in commission earnings. That was only possible through creative marketing. Take some time to think of a unique way to get people interested in hosting. It’ll be worth it in the end.
