We're Going to be Published!

It’s official.

PowWeb is going to be published in a college textbook called the Foundations of Marketing 3/e by Pride/Ferrell.

About a week ago, Houghton Mifflin contacted PowWeb requesting permission to use an ad image that had been published in Wired Magazine (the same issue found lying on my desktop here.)

These days, anyone with enough money can get an ad in virtually any magazine, but to have an ad be recognized and be used to teach other people about marketing, that’s pretty special.

Houghton Mifflin claims that their goal is to “give students a chance to see how companies use marketing in today’s worlPowWeb Wired Magazine Spice Add” and to “use ads from the most well respected US & International companies as examples in the text.” How cool is that?

Now before you say “whoopdee doo” and close this quicker than one of those spammy voting pop-ups, you should realize that this is actually big stuff for any company. Given the competitiveness of shared Web hosting and the difficulty of coming up with a novel idea for an ad, this is quite an accomplishment.

And, as an added bonus, I think this officially makes Jason (our designer) and I famous authors. It also gives us a nice little zinger to use at our discretion.

Co-worker: I’m not sure that’s a good idea.
Me: <sarcasm>Is that right?</sarcasm> *Clears throat* Do I need to remind you that my work has been published in a book being taught to marketing students all over the world?
Co-worker: You’re right, I apologize. Let’s go with your idea.
